The coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, C.K Akonnor has said his club has a lot of respect not only in Africa and outside Africa too.
Akonnor became the first coach to take Kotoko to the group stage of a CAF club competition for the first time in over a decade when he beat Cotton Sport in Kumasi.
Speaking on Metro FM after his club’s elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup, Akonnor said Kotoko is not only respected in Ghana but in Africa and also in Europe.
“They respect us a lot. Kotoko carries a lot of weight in Africa. Not only here in Africa but in Europe and the rest of the world.”
He talked about a time when he met an “old man” in Europe who mentioned the names of some Kotoko legends including Opoku Nti.
Akonnor urged the media and all stakeholders to work together and improve the image of Kotoko so as to move the club forward.
