Former player and coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Frimpong Manso has advised his former club to work on their defence.
Speaking on Light FM in Kumasi, Manso said if the fullbacks are not good, it will be difficult for the strikers to score more goals.
According to him, the defenders struggle to understand themselves as the coach keeps rotating them.
“In a team where the fullbacks cannot support the strikers the team will have a problem” because it will be difficult for the strikers to get the supply.
“Kotoko’s right-back is a central defender so how can he support the attack?”
“We should not always think about scoring, we should look at the defence as well,” he said.
“I believe if Kotoko defend well as a team and as a block then they will still have a chance.”
“If you create a lot of chance then you have a higher chance of scoring,” he added.
Last season, Kotoko could not progress to the quarter-final stage of the CAF Confederation Cup due to their poor defending especially in their away games.
This season, the team has played two away games and lost all of it and has also conceded 6 goals.
