Africa’s club of the 20th century, Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been ranked as the number 1 club in Ghana according to Football Database latest ranking. The club, however, is ranked 37th on the African continent with 1423 points.
Kotoko’s bad performance in continental tournaments has affected their ranking in recent years.
However, their arch-rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak are ranked are ranked 97th in Africa and 5th in Ghana 1354 points.
Reigning Ghana Premier League Champions, Aduana Stars are ranked 84th and 4rd in Africa and Ghana respectively with 1367 points.
Berekum Chelsea, according to Football Database is the 75th best club in Africa and 3rd in Ghana with 1379 points while Ashanti Gold FC came 2nd in Ghana and 47th in Africa with 1402 points.
Al Ahly of Egypt, Esperance de Tunis of Tunis, TP Mazembe and AS Vita both of DR Congo and Sudan’s Al-Merreikh are the top five clubs on the African continent respectively.
ASEC Mimosas is currently ranked 19th, Kaizer Chief took the 18th spot RCA Raja Casablanca Athletic came 17th, Stade Malien Bamako came 16th and El Zamalek also took the 15th position on the African continent.
