Kumasi Asante Kotoko, The Post understands will not face Obuasi Ashanti Gold SC with their first team in the John Agyekum Kufuor Cup.

The match will be played this Sunday and the reason why the club will field a second team to face their rivals is because of their upcoming CAF Confederation Cup match between Cameroon’s Cotton Sport next weekend.
The JA Kufuor Cup is being played to honour the former President of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor who also served as the Chairman of Kotoko is the late 80s on his 80th birthday.

Ashanti Gold SC has promised to beat Kotoko and it is likely they might be in the position to do it as they will face Kotoko’s second team.

Last year, they beat Kotoko 3-2 the first leg of a two-leg friendly match while Kotoko won the second leg.
Kotoko, after their game against Ashanti Gold, will travel to Cameroon to play Cotton Sport in the CAF Confederation Cup.
