Asante Kotoko will start its women’s team in the coming season.
Albeit the Asantehene tasked the board to establish a women’s team within three years, the need to have a women’s team has become very important as it has now become a requirement before a club can participate in a CAF club competition.
As it stands, it is not clear if the club would establish it’s own women’s team or adopt a club in Kumasi.
Ash-Town Ladies, Kumasi Sports Academy Ladies and Fabulous Ladies are the three women club in Kumasi which competes in the Ghanaian Women Premier League.
There have been reports that Kotoko would adopt Fabulous Ladies. The club which was formed in 1985 by Habiba Atta Forson uses the Asante Kotoko logo as its logo after asking for permission from the Asantehene.
