Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s participation in CAF’s Confederation Cup has boosted the economy of Ashanti Region since the competition started.
Kotoko has played three games in Kumasi since December 2018 and on match days, fans of the club from and outside the region troop to the Baba Yara Sports stadium to watch the games.
The Post understands that on match days, food vendors, bars, pubs and hotels are able to increase their revenue as people are willing to spend as the fans are happy with the way the players are playing.
The club has even increased the revenue they make from gate fees as they have reportedly made over ¢1, 000, 000 in their last two games at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.
Outside Kumasi, food vendors and pubs/bar owners are the ones who have seen an increase in their sales as fans of the club troop to such places after their games.
This increase in revenue is expected to increase if Kumasi progresses to the next stage of the competition.
