Kwaku Oteng, the president and founder of the Angel Group of Companies, has refuted any interest in being named the next Board Chairman for Asante Kotoko, a popular Ghanaian football club.
Earlier reports suggested that the business mogul could potentially replace Kwame Kyei as the patron Otumfuo Osei Tutu was expected to dissolve the current board of directors and appoint new members. An online picture posted by Asempa FM showed Kwaku Oteng posing with Otumfuo, further fueling speculation about his potential appointment to a top role in Asante Kotoko.
However, Kwaku Oteng has now clarified his position, stating that he has no interest in becoming the next Executive Chairman of Asante Kotoko, as reported by angelonline.com.
The current board, led by Dr. Kwame Kyei, is reportedly preparing for their final meeting, during which they will finalize their report and submit it to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu.
In the 2022/23 betPawa Premier League season, Asante Kotoko finished in fourth position with 52 points, missing out on both the league title and the FA Cup.
Kwaku Oteng’s statement puts to rest the speculations surrounding his potential involvement with Asante Kotoko, reaffirming that he has no aspirations for the Executive Chairman role at the club.
