A 25-year-old football coach is facing multiple charges of sexual molestation involving minors. Abdul Rahman Issaka has been accused of defiling a 10-year-old boy and indecently assaulting an 11-year-old boy at separate locations in Adenta, a suburb of Accra. Issaka is currently serving a 15-year jail term at Akuse, but his trial was truncated because there was no vehicle to transport him from prison to court.
At an Adentan Circuit Court hearing, the Prosecution, led by Chief Superintendent of Police Patience Mario, reported that the prison authorities could not produce Issaka in court due to a lack of transportation. Consequently, the case was adjourned sine die.
In the first case, Issaka is alleged to have had unnatural carnal knowledge of the 10-year-old boy. According to the prosecution, the complainant was a trader residing at La Nkwantanang, and the victim was her son. Issaka is a football coach at La Nkwantanang football park. In March 2020, the victim went to play football at the park during the lockdown, and Issaka asked him to escort him to an adult footballer’s house in Adenta. When they got there, Issaka took the victim into a room, asked him to remove his underpants and lie on his back. The accused undressed and attempted to have anal sex with the victim, but was unable to penetrate.
In January 2021, Issaka visited the victim’s house and invited him to accompany him to a nearby shop to buy something. He then lured the victim into a house and attempted to have anal sex with him. A report was subsequently made to the police, leading to Issaka’s arrest.
In the second case, Issaka is said to have tied and gagged an 11-year-old boy with pieces of cloth and attempted to penetrate him anally. The victim informed his parents about the incident, and the accused person was arrested and charged with unlawful entry and indecent assault. Issaka has denied all charges.
