Yaw Boafo, a private legal practitioner and also a member of Asante Kotoko’s management team has stated we should not force Kwasi Nyantakyi to resign from the GFA.
According to him, Nyantakyi’s position as the WAFU President, CAF 1st Vice President and a FIFA Executive Committee member has a lot of benefit to the country because we were mostly ignored when people from Francophone countries were occupying those positions.
Mr Boafo told ABN Ghana that when Kotoko went to play with Karela in Congo, they had to mention Kwasi Nyantakyi’s name before the match commissioner decided to listen to their complaints about how the Karela fans were treating them.
Furthermore, the video in which he was captured by Anas has got nothing to do with football unlike Jerome Valcke and Sepp Blatter whose situation was related to football so, in his view, he believes Nyantakyi should be allowed to head the Ghana Football Association.
Moreover, he also questioned the means through which Anas does his work. He stated that in Anas’ exposé, he was the one who entrapped Kwasi Nyantakyi and not the other way round. This he believes is not right and is not the right way to tackle corruption because no one is ‘holier than thou’.
At the moment, journalists and lawyers as well as politicians are divided as to whether to support the modus operandi of Anas or not. While the legal practitioners are against how he does it work, the journalists are in favour of his method, arguing it is accepted in their profession.
Anas who is also a lawyer is yet to comment on what his fellow lawyers are saying.
