It seems Nigeria is yet to find a coach who they can trust when it come to playing against Ghana.
The two West African country have played a 58 times and the Super Eagles of Nigeria have only been able to record 12 wins and 27 draws while Ghana has 25 wins.
The rivalry between the two countries dates back to when both countries were British colonies with the first match played on October 16, 1950.
The last time Nigeria beat Ghana was in the African Cup of Nations game in Egypt in 2006. Since then Nigeria has struggled to beat Ghana and their best have been draws and have also sacked all their coaches for failing to beat Ghana.
In 2007, Augustine Eguavoen led Nigeria to lose 4-1 to Ghana in a friendly match in London. He was replaced by German coach Berti Vogts.
Vogts was only in charge for a year and he resigned after losing 2-1 to a 10-man Ghana team in the quarter-finals at the African Cup of Nations in 2008.
Shuaibu Amodu was appointed as the coach of Nigeria in 2008 for the fourth time. Unfortunately for him, he was sacked in 2010 after losing to Ghana 1-0 in the African Cup of Nations semi-final in Angola.
In 2022, Augustine Eguavoen returned to the Nigerian dugout again to face Ghana to a two-legged FIFA World Cup qualifying game. Ghana qualified for the World Cup in Abuja on away goal rule after the game 1-1. Eguavoen was removed from his position days later.
