A violent confrontation between the youth of Twifo Abodom and Wassa Hemanso in the Wassa East District of the Western Region has left seven people injured with severe wounds.
The altercation reportedly stemmed from a man’s alleged attempt to snatch another’s girlfriend during a funeral wakekeeping.
A youth from Wassa Hemanso reportedly slapped a man from Twifo Abodom for dancing with his girlfriend, leading to the victim reporting the attack upon returning to his village.
In response, approximately twenty youths from Twifo Abodom allegedly launched an ambush on Wassa Hemanso’s youth, leading to a machete fight with casualties on both sides.
The injured were taken to Twifo Atieku Health Centre for treatment, and the Twifo-Atti-Morkwa District Police Command intervened to restore peace between the two communities.
