Last Sunday’s Euros 2024 final was the first time two players of Ghanaian descent played in the grand finale of the competition.
Spain’s Nico Williams and England’s Kobbie Mainoo were both eligible to play for Ghana but they chose to play for the country of their birth.
With Williams opening the scoring and lifting the trophy with Spain in their 2-1 over England made him the second Ghanaian to lift the trophy after France legend, Marcel Desailly who won the trophy in 2000.
