A 35-year-old man has been apprehended in Techiman on suspicion of engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
The incident unfolded with the arrest being captured on video and subsequently shared on social media. In the footage, the alleged homosexual man can be seen being escorted by police officers, while individuals in the background express their disapproval by shouting derogatory remarks such as ‘gay man, gay man.’
According to an eyewitness who spoke on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, a group of young men in the vicinity had been monitoring the activities of the suspect and noticed some suspicious behavior involving a minor. They claimed that the man had repeatedly called the minor into his room, although the exact reasons behind these interactions remained unclear.
The concerned individuals decided to continue observing the situation until the arrest took place. On the day in question, the young man reportedly invited the boy into his room. However, when the monitoring group knocked on the door later, they were informed that the boy had already left. This raised their suspicions, prompting them to hide nearby.
When questioned about his presence in the room, the boy initially stated that the man had sent him on an errand. Upon further inquiry, the boy revealed that the suspect had asked him to engage in a sexual act.
Subsequently, the suspect faced an assault by enraged young people in the area. In response, he went to the police station to report the attack. However, after residents informed the officers about the underlying incident, the man was arrested by the police.
