A 52-year old man, Kwame Bubuo has been arrested at Assin-Fosu in the Central Region after allegedly pouring DDT into a soup in an attempt to kill his wife and their six children.
The 52-year old man poured the poisonous chemical into the food after he had a fight with his wife, Afia Adowa.
After the fight, Afia left the house for things to calm down before returning to their house in the evening.
A friend of the family called Fati sent them food as she knew Afia was not able to cook due to the fight with her husband.
Afia went out to buy a torchlight as the light was off at that time. When she returned, she saw that the colour of the soup has changed and when she questioned her husband, he told her that “if she did not cook for him,” he will also let her eat the food without killing her.
The incident was reported to the police and Kwame Bubuo was arrested. He is currently on remand and the food has been taken to the lab to find out if what he poured in the food was really DDT or a different thing.
