A suspected notorious thief met a tragic end in Dunkwa Mfuom as he was beaten to death by angry residents for allegedly stealing GH¢500 and a bible belonging to the wife of an Adventist Pastor.
According to reports, the thief gained entry into the pastor’s house with the aid of a wooden object to commit the theft. However, he inadvertently left his phone behind, which helped the residents identify him.
Upon discovering the theft, the residents pursued and apprehended the thief, subjecting him to severe beatings. The extent of the injuries sustained by the thief resulted in profuse bleeding, and despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
The body of the deceased has been taken to the hospital morgue for preservation.
The Aboabo Estate, located in Mfuom within the Upper Denkyira West Municipality, has recently witnessed a surge in burglary incidents. Over the past few weeks, the community has experienced five separate robbery cases.
Frustrated by the continuous acts of robbery, residents expressed their anger and warned potential perpetrators to desist from such activities. They emphasized that the death of the suspected thief should serve as a warning to others who may have planned similar acts.
“We are exhausted by the presence of robbers in our community. Every day we face the threat of robbery despite our hard work. It only takes one lazy person to come and take away everything we have earned,” shared some residents in an interview with GhanaWeb.
