The Bekwai Circuit Court has jailed a 25-year old man at Bekwai in the Ashanti Region for stealing a slot machine popularly called jackpot in Ghana.
Yaw Danso, a resident of Kokofu stole the machine from a game centre after the owner closed from work early due to a heavy downpour.
Yaw Danso and his 17-year old brother, Francis, broke into the game centre at around 10:30 pm and found the jackpot machine there. They stole the machine and used objects to open it in a nearby bush.
Unfortunate for them, someone saw them stealing the machine and told the owner when she got to work the following day.
Yaw Danso was arrested and pleaded guilty and also took the police to where he opened the machine.
Yaw Danso has been sentenced to 14 years in prison but his brother’s case has been referred to the juvenile court as he is not 18 years old.
