A tragic incident occurred on July 6, 2023, at Santa Maria Washing Bay in Accra, where a man lost his life after being stabbed by his friend during a heated argument over a single stick of cigarette.
The deceased, known by the name Joe but commonly referred to as Al-Qaeda, had accompanied his friend, identified as Bhim, to purchase two pieces of King Size cigarettes. However, a disagreement arose between them regarding the ownership of one of the cigarettes.
Blogger Sika Official reported that Al-Qaeda purchased two sticks of King Size cigarettes, but Bhim insisted on claiming one of them. This disagreement quickly escalated into a quarrel over ownership, leading to a tragic turn of events. Bhim resorted to using a pair of scissors to stab Al-Qaeda, who tragically lost his life as a result of the altercation. He refused to surrender one stick of cigarette to Bhim, and this seemingly trivial dispute escalated to a fatal outcome.
Eyewitness Shawn P, a resident of the area, confirmed the incident and spoke to Adom News. He explained that when they rushed to intervene and separate the fight, they were shocked to discover that both Al-Qaeda and Bhim were armed, with Al-Qaeda holding a knife and Bhim wielding the pair of scissors. The altercation turned violent, resulting in both individuals stabbing each other.
Unfortunately, Al-Qaeda sustained multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital. The severity of the injuries proved to be fatal, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
A distressing video of the incident, shared by Sika Official, shows the lifeless body of the deceased lying motionless on the ground, with blood covering his body. In the background, a female resident can be heard expressing concern over his deteriorating condition, while another person emotionally recalls warning them to stop before the situation escalated.
