Residents of Manso Kwabenaso in the Ashanti Region are in a state of shock after they found the bodies of two of their residents in a pit.
The suspect, Kwame Brodo is in the grip of the police at the moment.
The woman whose name has been given as Yaa Ataa before her demise was very close to Kwame Brodo. They were at times seen going to farm and also hanging out. Yaa Atta after getting pregnant told someone Kwame Brodo is the father of her unborn child.
Brodo took Yaa Attaa and her son, Kofi Konto, 5, to his farm to get firewood for her.
When they got to the farm, Kwame Brodo, who is also married, strangled Yaa Ataa with copper wire in the presence of her son. He later attacked Ataa’s son and strangled him to death with the copper wire.
After noticing Yaa Ataa and her son were missing, her family members started looking for her.
Since she was very close to Kwame Brodo, they took him to the chief palace and he told the chief he had not seen her.
Brodo took to his heels when he left the palace. He was found at a different town where he had started a pharmacy.
After confessing to the killing of the woman and her son, the 42 year old man also said he was shy because of her mental disorder.
He took the police and some members of the community to where he hid the body.
The deceases were found in a deep pit.
The police after further investigations found out Kwame Brodo had criminal records and was nearly jailed at a point in time for impersonation.
Kwame Brodo, who has the name Kwame Tuffour on his ID card claim his father and mother are from Bonwire and Buoho respectively. Attempts to reach his family members have proven futile.
The late Yaa Ataa according to her family and friends said although she had a mental disorder, she was calm, always at home and spent most of her time working on her farm.
