An incident of domestic violence in Accra has resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to her father, as reported by UTV. According to witnesses, the man responsible for the violence was a known abuser who had repeatedly driven his wife away from their home.
“I was the linguist at their marriage and I have known all the issues that plagued their union,” said a witness who spoke to reporters. They expressed disappointment in the role played by clergymen who encouraged the victim to return to her abusive husband.
Friends and family of the deceased gathered in Nungua to mourn her passing, with Pastor Boafo of Calvary Baptist Church offering condolences and calling for justice. “Things are getting worse. The nation must speak. Young people have been left to be committing crime. We beg the government to take action and deliver justice.”
There are conflicting accounts regarding the perpetrator’s motivation, with some suggesting that he committed suicide after killing his wife due to her insistence on divorce.
