A man has been duped by a man he met on Facebook. The victim, Gideon Yao Gadda, in an interview on Kessben FM last Saturday said he met the supposed Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu on Facebook in October last year and started chatting with him.
He then told him he wants to travel overseas so he should help him. Mensah Bonsu gave him a number and said the person is the Coordinator of Protocol, Visa and Tickets.
Gadda said he told him to buy a form from Parliament for ₵500 and he sent him the money. After that, he sent him ₵600 for medicals and interviews. He later sent him ₵1,000 for Immigration Stay Permit.
After the Immigration Stay Permit, he said he sent ₵750 to Mensah Bonsu for an express passport as he has lost his.
He then sent ₵1,200 for Non-Immigrant Visa Fee, ₵2,000 for Visa fee, ₵1,500 for Stay Permit, ₵2,500 for Hotel fee, ₵7,500 for ticket and ₵500 for Affidavit.
According to him, Mensah Bonsu started calling him to ask him for money to buy fuel and he sent him ₵250. In total, he said he sent Mensah Bonsu more than ₵18,300.
Gadda said he found out the men he had been dealing with were fake when he got home from work last week and saw on TV that the MP for Suame Constituency, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has said he is not on Facebook.
Gadda has joined the list of Ghanaians who have been duped by people pretending to be him the Majority Speaker of Parliament.
Hon. Mensah Bonsu has on numerous occasions said he is not on Facebook; therefore, people should be careful with people pretending to be him on Facebook.
