Football legend, Diego Armando Maradona yesterday had to be taken to the hospital for medical attention after Argentina beat Nigeria by 2 goals to 1 in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
Maradona, 57, wrote on Facebook that he was not hospitalized and explained what happened.
“I want to tell everyone that I am fine, that I am not, nor was I, hospitalised,” he wrote.
“At half-time of the game against Nigeria, my neck hurt a lot and I suffered a decompensation.
“I was checked by a doctor and he recommended that I leave before the second half, but I wanted to stay because we were playing for everything. How could I leave?
“I send a kiss to everyone. Thanks for the support.”
Before the match, Maradona was seen dancing with a woman and when Lionel Messi scored the first goal, he went wild.
Nigeria’s equalizer made him quiet and he was seen in an uncomfortable position.
Marcos Rojo’s goal sent him on fire and he was seen jubilating again.
Fans were concerned about how he was celebrating due to his condition.
Diego Cora of ESPN reported that Maradona had been taken to the hospital to receive medical attention.
Argentina will now play France in their next match.
Maradona led his team to win the 1986 World Cup in Mexico and he is expecting the current generation to do the same.
