It is common to see a footballer who is also a business mogul, student and models.
But there is one player who is different from all the other players. Before he signed for Kotoko after former head coach Paa Kwesi Fabian recommended him, he was playing for Nkoranza Warriors.
Nana Appiah Kubi a midfielder for Kumasi Asante Kotoko is the chief for Sefwiman a town at Nkoranza.
Speaking to Kumasi FM, Nana Appiah said his work as a footballer won’t affect the duties he performs as a chief.
Nana Appiah has been the chief for Nkoranza for three years and he was enstooled as the chief after he returned from Madagascar.
Before becoming the chief, he said he told the elders that he will not quit his football career to become the chief. Though the elders did not agree initially, they later agreed to allow him to play football professionally since it is what he wants to do.
“It doesn’t affect me because I perform rituals yearly and in the adjudicating of cases and emergency situations, I have elders who do that in my absence. I only go back in emergency situations.”
Nana Appiah also revealed that even before his teammates got to know that he was a chief, they gave him the needed respect.
He also indicated that he has elders who take charge in the smooth ruling of his administration so he is opened to contracts from outside the country.
“I have not intentions of leaving football for the chieftaincy role now until I am no more energetic or I am affected by an injury. I will feature for Kotoko in case we play any team in Nkoranza.”
