Nigeria has beaten Iceland by 2-0 at the Volvograd Arena in Russia in front of 40, 904 spectators.
Ahmed Musa scored twice in the second half to give Nigeria their first win at this year’s World Cup.
He could have become the first Nigerian to score a hat-trick at the World Cup but his shot from behind the 18-yard box hit the crossbar.

Sigurdsson missed a penalty in the minute to end the Scandinavian’s country’s hopes of equalizing.
The referee had to consult the VAR to give Iceland the penalty but they could not convert the chance.
Sigurdsson penalty went over the bar.

Musa has now become the first Nigerian to score in two World Cups with 4 goals. His first two came in the 3-2 lost to Argentina at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Nigeria now needs a point against Argentina in the last round of group matches and they must also hope for a good scoreline in favour of Croatia when they face Iceland.
Nigeria’s win against Iceland has also given Argentina hope. Should Argentina beat Nigeria, they will have a chance of joining Croatia in the second round.

Now, do you think Nigeria have their destiny in their own hands or they have made Lionel Messi’s Argentina a favour?
