The founder and leader of United Progressive Party (UPP), Akwasi Addae ‘Odike’ has said the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has failed to respect the alliance he made with his party.
Speaking on Angel FM, Odike said the NPP before the 2016 election sent a delegation to Kumasi to talk about the formation of an alliance.
Odike further explained that he and his party members met with Nana Addo in Accra to complete the negotiations after which he withdrew from contesting in the election.
“I held a press conference at the EC Office and said we have subordinated our interest to the NPP.”
“We went back to them and they told us to synchronize our campaign.”
He also revealed that Nana Addo always made him “heat” the campaign grounds before he Nana Addo come on stage.
He compared his alliance to the NPP under Nana Addo to the one Kufour formed with the CPP.
“When Kufour won the election,” he said, he found a place for Papa Kwesi Nduom and other members of the CPP.
However, since Nana Addo was sworn into office, he has failed to recognize the role he and his party members played to help him win the election.
