Dr Akwasi Amakye, a Political Science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has described the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s speech at the just ended 73rd United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York as a wrong step.
According to him, if the President wants to tell African countries to rely on themselves, he should say it at the African Union Summit but not in the presence of those who “feed you.”
He compared the President behaviour to that of Dr Kwame Nkrumah which he said affected him.
“Nkrumah got his politics wrong and that is why he failed. And Nana Addo is also on the same path,” he said on ABN Ghana’s Angel in the morning.
He explained that Nkrumah’s book “Imperialism the last stage of colonialism” is the main reason why his relationship with the USA deteriorated.
“In international politics, he is taking the wrong steps.”
Dr Amakye went on to say that Nana Addo should not say the things he said at the UN General Assembly as it will not help him.
“What Nana Addo is doing shows that he wants to make a name for himself,” he added.
However, he stated that it will not help, therefore, he should put an end to it.
