The three suspects in the shooting incidents at the National Democratic Congress Head Office in Ashanti Region which led to the death of Wassiu Iddrisu and injuring of another last month have been denied bail by the Asokwa District Court IV in Kumasi.
The prosecutor, ACP Okyere Darko told the judge, His Lordship Abbas Adams that the three suspects, Dawuda Ibrahim alias Wayo, Abdul Ganiu alias Petit and Samuel Agyin alias Rock are members of the NDC’s vigilante group, The Hawk who according to their investigations might be having an issue with the party internal security force, Internal Security Task Force.
According to him, when the two groups met at the party office an argument ensued, a member of The Hawks shot Wissiu Iddrisu and injuring another person.
However, the lawyer for the suspects, Evans Amankwaah denied the accusations levelled against his clients and told the court his client, Dawuda Ibrahim is even a Deputy Youth Organizer for the party at Tafo Constituency and is also the Chairman for The Hawks, therefore, there is no way he will involve in such a heinous act and asked for bail for his clients.
However, His Lordship Abas Adams denied the three suspects bail as the prosecutor told the court he needs more time to conduct his investigations.
The men have been remanded for nine days.
