Davis Opoku Ansah, the Member of Parliament representing the Mpraeso Constituency, shares the sentiments of numerous football enthusiasts who find themselves unimpressed by Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s jersey for the 2023/2024 Ghana Premier League season.
The renowned Porcupine Warriors unveiled their new jersey on Sunday, September 17, 2023, during their season opener against Hearts of Lions. However, the jersey’s reception on social media was far from favorable, with several Ghanaians expressing dissatisfaction with its quality. Many went on to criticize the club’s Interim Management Committee for entering into a partnership with what they perceive as a company producing substandard jerseys.

Taking to his social media platform, Davis Opoku Mensah expressed his disapproval of the jersey, stating, “Never knew we had disposable jerseys.” This candid remark echoed the disappointment felt by a segment of the fan base.
The lack of inspiration reflected in the jersey seemed to cast a shadow over the team’s performance in their season opener. The match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium ended in a draw against Premier League returnees Hearts of Lions, which was not the ideal start that fans had hoped for.
Nevertheless, Coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum urged the fans to remain patient and maintain faith in the team. He expressed absolute confidence in the players’ ability to consistently deliver performances that would excite the Porcupine family in the upcoming matches.
