Ekundayo Ebenezer Mawoyeka, a Nigerian footballer who plays as a forward for Turkish club Saraykoyspor has died after he collapsed during a league game on Sunday.
The 23-year old collapsed in the 35th minute and was rushed to the hospital.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Denizli State Hospital he all effort to revive him was not successful.
The game between his club and Yesilkoyspor which was being played at the Servergazi Stadium was stopped.
A tribute from his club read, “Our pain is big. In the 35th minute of the game we played with Yesilkoyspor, we are sorry to hear about the news that our footballer Ekundayo ‘Eco’ Mawoyeka has passed away.” the club wrote on Facebook.
“At first, we wish all the fans to be patient with the grieving family of our football player.”
