Residents of Obuasi have sent a strong warning to politicians. The residents of the popular gold mining town have been complaining about the bad nature of their roads for years yet nothing has been done about it.
Last month the residents told the former president, John Mahama not to set foot in the area because he failed to fix their road when he was in power. However, on his visit to the town, Mahama blamed the current government for not constructing the road because he awarded it to a contractor before leaving office.
Yesterday, while the residents were demonstrating they made it clear that if the road is not fixed not only will they not allow any politician to campaign there but they will also not vote.
The government has promised to construct the roads in the area, however, the residents do not believe it will be constructed as it is not the first time such a promise is being made.
