A lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has asked parents and guardians of female students who will get Unity and University Hall as their hall of residence to remain calm as nothing will happen to them.
When news broke out that the authorities of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has decided to turn the two male halls into mix halls, current and old hall members sent a word out to any female who will be given any of the two halls as their hall of residence not to enter the hall.
According to Prof Charles Marfo, a Lecturer at KNUST, “the halls are for first-year students only”, as a result, the old and continuing students who were hall members of Unity and University Hall have no business as to decide for the school who should be given a room in the hall.

Prof Charles Marfo in an interview on Angel FM posited that the policy of the school still remains “in-out-out” and also described the actions by the alumni of the hall as primitive.
However, he asked them to use the appropriate means if they have an issue that needs to be addressed.
Apart from Unity and University Hall, Africa Hall, a female hall of the school is also being converted into a mixed hall.
The school authorities have maintained their position on the issue although the school has been sued by the old hall members of Unity Hall.
The move, according to the school authorities, is to end the constant clashes between the two male halls which have ended in the death of some students.
