Angel FM sports journalist Saddick Adams has revealed that Richard Ofori was made the Black Stars goalkeeper for the African Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast because he has luck.
According to him, that was the reason given to Chris Hughton by the goalkeeper’s trainer Richard Kingston.
“At the Technical meeting in the lead up to Ghana’s first match at AFCON 2023, the official report of the Goalkeeper’s Trainer on why Richard Ofori was selected as first choice was that, he was a “lucky” goalkeeper.
That was the fundamental basis despite the GK not playing…”, Saddick Adams tweeted.
“When a South African Journalist pointed out to Hughton that, he was surprised with Ofori’s choice because was third choice at club and has been without games for months.
Hughton basically emphasized the goalkeepers trainer’s argument only that Hughton was smart with diction and impeccable accent. It’s now making sense to me.”
Ofori who’s blunder in the last game at the tournament gave the Mozambicans their equalizer to knock Ghana out of the AFCON has not been getting playing time at his club, Sundowns.
