William Opoku’s first-minute goal against his formal club has taken Kumasi Asante Kotoko to the top of the Ghanaian Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors started the game in the fifth minute with 21 points but are currently on top with 24 points, a point above Medeama SC who is yet to play.
Opoku opened the scoring after he was put through by Emmanuel Gyamfi in Karela’s penalty box and he slotted the ball into the net.
Opoku could have made it two in the 21st minute but his header missed the goalpost and he was also flagged offside by the linesman.
Yacouba came on for William Opoku in the 72nd minute and had the opportunity to make it two for Kotoko in the 76th minute but his shot was too feeble to beat Karela United’s goalkeeper.
Kwame Baah came to the rescue of Kotoko with a spectacular save in the 83rd minute by averting Diawise Taylor’s shot.
