Yusif Alhassan Chibsah, former captain of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has revealed that South African giant, Orlando Pirates wants to play with Kumasi Asante Kotoko to honour the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu on his 20th Anniversary as the Asantehene.
Chibsah, in an interview on Kessben FM, said the Executive Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko called him and told him to help the club get a team to play to honour the Asantehene.
Chibsah explained that he and Pro Ball wrote to Orlando Pirates and they replied to tell them they have accepted the offer.
Kotoko, Chibsah explained told them to send in their proposal after which they will give them an answer.
Chibsah and his partners sent their proposal to Kotoko but they did not receive any reply from Kotoko.
However, Chibsah said the Policy Analyst of Kotoko, Dr Amo Sarpong told him during a telephone conversation that “they have accepted an offer from Sheer Group to play with Egyptian side, Arab Contractors.”
Chibsah went on to explain that he told Dr Sarpong to respond to their proposal officially to deny their offer but he “got an email from Kotoko that they should give them one week.”
According to Chibsah, Orlando Pirates wanted a $500 insurance package, $150 per diem per head, accommodation and an appearance fee which have all been accepted and awaiting approval from Kotoko.
However, the news of Kotoko’s decision to play with Arab Contractors is what Chibsah and his partners are not happy about as Orlando Pirates is waiting for a reply from them.
Though it has been reported that Kotoko will be playing the Egyptian side next month, the club is yet to confirm it officially.
