South African giant, Orlando Pirates has apologized to Kumasi Asante Kotoko over how they contacted their striker, Sogne Yacouba.
The Communications Director of Kumasi Asante Kotoko told Oyerepa FM about Pirates’ apology during an interview.
“Before Orlando Pirates wrote to Asante Kotoko, they had written to the player earlier about a week before they wrote to us that he should travel to South Africa to familiarize with the team,” he said.
“Asante Kotoko got wind of this and wrote to them asking why they did so. They replied apologizing for their actions and accepted they erred.
This was a clear case of inducement or better still tapping but we didn’t want to create problems for the player,” he added.
There were reports in the media that Yacouba had reached an agreement with Pirates.
Yacouba is yet to feature for Kotoko, however, no one will be surprised if leaves at the end of the Normalisation Committee’s Special Cup.
