Black Stars coach Otto Addo has clarified that Callum Hudson-Odoi Forest is not part of his plans for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Addo recently announced a 26-man squad for the crucial matches against Mali and the Central African Republic, and Hudson-Odoi was notably absent despite earlier speculation about a nationality switch from England and a debut call-up to the Black Stars.
Speaking on the matter, Addo stated: “It is difficult to talk about the future. I haven’t spoken to him yet. To be honest, my head is not there at all. I’m fully focused on Mali.”
Ghana will begin their training camp on Thursday before traveling to Bamako, Mali, for their match on June 6. They will then return to Kumasi to face the Central African Republic.
The Black Stars currently sit fourth in Group I of the CAF World Cup qualifiers, trailing behind Comoros, Mali, and Madagascar. The team is in a precarious position, and effective management will be crucial for their qualification campaign.
Hudson-Odoi, who occasionally visits Ghana for holidays, has already made three appearances for England’s national team but remains eligible to represent Ghana.
His potential inclusion in future squads could add significant strength to the Black Stars, but for now, Addo’s focus remains firmly on the immediate challenges ahead.
