A Colombian man was arrested at Barcelona’s international airport after cocaine worth £27,000 was found under his toupee.
The man attracted police attention because he looked nervous and had a disproportionately large hairpiece under his hat, officers said in Spain.
They found half a kilogram of cocaine worth about €30,000 stuck to his head.
Officers said in a statement: “There is no limit to the inventiveness of drug traffickers trying to mock controls.”
Spanish police have released photos of the man with and without the toupee.
The suspect, who arrived in Spain from the Colombian capital Bogota, was arrested at the end of June.
Spanish police issued a statement about the arrest on Tuesday.
More than 100kg of cocaine were seized by Spanish police at the Barcelona-El Prat Airport in 2018.
