Brazil legend Edson Arantes do Nascimento, more commonly known as Pele, has been in a hospital in Sao Paulo for six days after undergoing a series of routine tests.
Pele revealed back on August 31 that he was taken to the hospital to undergo some examinations that had been postponed following the COVID-19 outbreak and assured fans that he was in good health through his social media channels.
Pele reportedly remains hospitalised, but the exact causes that led to his stay at the prestigious Albert Einstein Hospital have yet to be confirmed.
According to various local media reports, an undisclosed issue was detected during the routine examinations and the medical team opted to keep the Brazil legend in hospital.
The health of the three-time world champion has deteriorated in recent years and due to the pandemic, he has been kept practically confined in his home on the Sao Paulo coast with his family and close friends.
