For the past three days, the rains have been causing problems in Kumasi. On Thursday, Anloga got flooded and it led to the killing of more than 3 people.
Also, some schools had to closed down on Friday as the rain from the previous night had left debris which was too much for the school children to clean in a day.
Reports coming in this morning indicate last night’s rain has also led to the killing of some people at Abuakwa and its environs. As at now, it is not known exactly how many have died.
However, a bridge in the area has collapsed and cars have been parked as movement has become difficult.
Speaking to Fox FM this morning, Kwabena Senkyere, the Regional Coordinator for NADMO thanked God and also the National Fire Service for the work they did throughout the night as they got a lot of calls from those who live near the Oda river. He also told all those living close to waterways to leave as they will be there to demolish all the structures along the waterways. He further advised people to be careful as the rain will continue today.
Since the flooding in Kumasi started, residents in the municipality have been blaming the choked the gutters as the cause for the flood, however, the authorities especially blame it on structures built along waterways.
