One of the world’s most infamous leaders, President of Philippines Rodrigo Duterte has been condemned for calling God ‘stupid’.
Duterte in a televised speech on Friday questioned the story of how God created man. He asked why God created Adam and Eve only and allowed them to go into a temptation.
“Who is this stupid God? This son of a b***h is then really stupid,”
“How can you rationalize a God? Do you believe?”
“You were not involved but now you’re stained with an original sins … What kind of a religion is that? That’s what I can’t accept, very stupid proposition,”
Rodrigo Duterte, well known for his crackdown on illegal drugs after the comment has been defended by his spokesperson, saying he [Duterte] has the right to express his views on religion.
Some Catholic Bishops have come out to slam the president for the comments he made. With one Catholic Bishop, Arturo Bastes, calling the President a ‘madman’.
“Duterte’s tirade against God and the Bible reveals again that he is a psychological freak, a psychopath, an abnormal mind who should have not been elected as president of our civilized and Christian nation,” Bastes said.
His comment has attracted criticisms from mostly Catholic Bishops as the Philippines is Asia’s largest Catholic country.
