Photo of Afriyie Barnie playing for Kotoko with Yacouba pops up

With two days left for the game between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko, a photo of Hearts’ star Afriyie Barnie in a Kotoko jersey has popped up.

Barnie before captaining Ghana’s U-20 squad to win the Africa U-20 competition in Mauritania had trials at Kotoko but unluckily for him, Kotoko passed on him. Actor Yaw Dabo who is his manager and a die-hard Kotoko fan wanted Barnie to play for Kotoko but that did not see the light of the day.

Barnie played friendly games for Kotoko alongside Kwame Baah, Adom Frimpong and Sogne Yacouba who was the face of the club before his departure in 2020.

Since joining Kotoko’s rivals, the young attacking midfielder has form a formidable partnership with Kwadwo Obeng in Hearts’ attack.
