Mavis Appiah, a plantain seller who buys her plantain at Asante Akyem and sells them in Accra has been beaten mercilessly after she decided to go and sell her plantain in the Northern Region.
According to Mavis Appiah, she decided not to go to Accra on that day because there is low patronage for plantain in Accra.
While buying her plantain, she told the women around about her decision and one of the traders called Aisha who is the Queen for all the traders told her not to go to Wagal as she is not allowed to sell there.
Appiah then told her she will go to the North but will not be at the place she is talking about.
While on her way to the North, she indicated that the car she was in was stopped by some men on a motorbike at Sawaba who told her not to go to Wagal as her name is not on the list of those who have been given permission to sell there.
This, she further indicated turned into an argument and the men started beating her, the driver of the car she was in, the mate and another man who was accompanying her.
The men also took the driver’s documents and escaped when people started coming to the scene.
Aisha was arrested after she reported the case to the police.
