The police in the Northern Region are currently on high alert as they strive to apprehend Coach Iddrisu S. Napari, who is wanted for assaulting female referee Abdul Rahman Sakina Nasara during a match. The incident took place at Game Centre 3 in Tamale during a game in the Women’s Division 1B League on Saturday.
The Northern Regional Football Association, in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association and the Ghana Police, is diligently pursuing Coach Iddrisu S. Napari to bring him to justice. They are determined to ensure his arrest and subsequent prosecution for his actions.
The match in question, which occurred on June 17, 2023, was abruptly halted in the 38th minute due to the coach’s invasion of the pitch and his assault on the referee. Following this disgraceful and unwarranted act, Coach Iddrisu Suheiru Napari, also known as Coach Kubli, has gone into hiding.
The Ghana Football Association would like to inform all stakeholders and well-wishers that after undergoing scans and receiving medical support at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, the referee is now in stable condition at the Tamale Technical University Hospital.
The Northern Regional Crime Officer has visited the victim at the hospital and has been conducting investigations, speaking to various individuals regarding the incident.
Efforts are currently underway to apprehend Coach Iddrisu S. Napari, who remains at large. The police, along with the Ghana Football Association and the Northern Regional Football Association, are seeking the support and cooperation of the public in providing information about his whereabouts. It is known that the coach has vacated his home since the incident occurred on Saturday.
The police have assured the public of their unwavering commitment to not rest until the coach is arrested.
The Northern Regional Chairman, who visited the hospital where the referee is being treated, expressed gratitude to the RFA Secretary, Referees Manager Mr. Alhassan.A. Alhassan, and the Northern Region Referees Association (RAG) for promptly ensuring that the injured referee received medical attention.
Regarding the sporting aspect, the Northern Regional Football Association will issue appropriate football charges to Coach Napari and his club for their responses, and the Disciplinary Committee will adjudicate the case.
The Association wishes to assure all stakeholders and the public that violence has no place in football. Both the criminal justice system and the sporting judicial system will take firm action against those who commit acts of violence in football.
The President of the Ghana Football Association, the General Secretary, and the Executive Council members have been in contact with the Northern Region Regional Chairman and Secretary to ensure that the injured referee receives the best possible medical care since the incident occurred yesterday.
