A policeman at Tano Police Station in the Brong Ahafo Region has been interdicted after three Fulani men escaped from the Police Station under his care.
According to the law, should inmates escape from the police station under the care of a police officer, the officer will be given ten days to look for the escapee or escapees.
However, the unnamed policeman was unable to find the escapees and as a result, he has been interdicted for further investigations to be done, Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong, Brong Ahafo Police PRO told the media yesterday.
On August 11, 2018, three Fulani men who were inmates at Tano Police Station escaped after they called the officer on duty that they have eased themselves in the cell so he should give them water to clean the cell.
The officer, after fetching the water was attacked by the inmates when he entered the cell to give the water to them.
Abdul Raman Osman, 27 died after he was shot by the police officer while escaping.
Chief Inspector Oppong further explained that a report has been sent to Accra and The Homicide Unit of the
Ghana Police Service will do an investigation to find out if he could have done something else apart from shooting the inmate.
