Old students of Prempeh College are fighting with the School Authorities to prevent them from giving away some of the school’s land.
According to the Old boys, the Headmaster of the school has given permission to a man to use the land to build stores.
Last year, the Old boys indicated they will relocate the traders who are already on the land.
The Old boys are arguing the presence of the traders near the school is affecting the students due to the excessive noise, burning of car tires and other activities.
Those occupying the land relocated there after the construction of the Sunyani Road and the Sofoline Interchange.
Although the traders claim they pay the school for occupying the land, the school authorities have told them to leave the area.
Last week, the old boys got the information that they have started the construction of the stores on the land after they stopped the workers some weeks ago with the help of some traditional leaders.
An Old boy of the school in an interview on ABN Ghana stated that the Headmaster told them he and the management of the school have given them the go ahead as they believe it will help the school.
Nonetheless, they have told the headmaster and the man who has been giving the land that they are against it.
Information gathered by The Post indicates the man building the stores has not bought the land but he is to “build, operate and transfer” the stores to the school in the future.
Petitions have been sent to the Ashanti Regional Minister and the Minister of Education to intervene and stop the Headmaster from giving the land away.
