Ghana has for the first time scored three goals in a FIFA World Cup match after beating South Korea 3-2.
The match against the Asians was the Black Stars’ 14th FIFA World Cup game since making an appearance at the competition in 2006 in Germany.
Before this game, the highest number of goals Ghana has scored in a match at the World Cup has always been two. The Black Stars in their second and third World Cup game won 2-0 and 2-1 against the Czech Republic and the United States respectively after losing 2-0 to Italy in their first game in 2006.
In 2010, Ghana beat Serbia 1-0, drew 1-1 with Australia and lost 1-0 to Germany in the group stages. Ghana beat USA 2-1 in the round of 16 and lost to Uruguay on penalties after playing 1-1.
Ghana started the 2014 World Cup on a bad note by losing 2-1 to USA, played 2-2 with Germany, and lost 2-1 to Portugal.
After losing 3-2 to Portugal in the first game, the Black Stars of Ghana score three goals in a match for the first time at the World Cup with Mohammed Kudus scoring a brace and a goal from Mohammed Salisu.
So far, Ghana’s heaviest defeat at the World Cup has been the 3-0 loss to Brazil in 2006 in the Round of 16.
