Manchester City’s pursuit of a treble remains alive following their Champions League semi-final first-leg draw with Real Madrid, thanks to a stunning goal from Kevin de Bruyne.
City dominated the early stages of the match and had a flurry of chances, but it was Real who took the lead against the run of play with Vinicius Jr scoring a thunderbolt from 25 yards out, following an impressive run by Eduardo Camavinga.
Real started to take control of the game in the second half, but City struck back with De Bruyne’s rocket of a shot from a similar distance finding the back of the net.
Real had a chance to take the lead again with a long-range strike from Aurelien Tchouameni, but City goalkeeper Ederson made a great save.
City are now unbeaten in 21 games across all competitions, with 17 wins. They need just seven more victories to complete a treble. City will host Real Madrid in the second leg, knowing that a win will take them to only their second Champions League final, where they will face either Inter Milan or AC Milan.
