The First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo has through a press release stated she would refund all the allowance paid her since her husband, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo became president.
Ghanaians have been criticizing the first and second lady after it was reported that they will be receiving monthly salary instead of the allowance given to the spouses of the sitting and past president and vice presidents.
In a statement signed by the Director of Communication at the Office of the First Lady, Korkor Bleboo, the first lady described the public criticism as distasteful added that she decided to refund the money after consulting the president. According to the release, the total amount paid to her since becoming the first lady is GH₵ 899,097.84.
