Kumasi Asante Kotoko midfielder, Richmond Lamptey has reportedly rejected a contract offered to him by an agent.
According to the report, Lamptey wants to show his appreciation to Kotoko for supporting and helping him get the ban imposed on him by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) lifted by the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
Lamptey was given a 30-month ban from all football-related activities by the GFA Disciplinary Committee for allegedly playing a role in his former club, Inter Allies’ 7-0 to Ashanti Gold in 2021.
Lamptey denied all the allegations leveled against him.
After the FA announced his suspension, Kotoko reported the FA to the CAS and he got the ban lifted after the case was reviewed.
As a sign of appreciation, Lamptey who has a year left on his contract wants to stay at the club. However, it is not clear if he would sign a new deal or leave as a free agent.
