Yao Wlako, a man accused of robbery at Ho Area 51 in the Volta Region, made headlines when he could not control his bladder during his arraignment before the Ho Circuit Court on April 18, 2023. According to a report by graphic.com.gh, Wlako urinated so profusely that his urine filled the dock and flowed into the courtroom and adjoining corridor, forcing people to leave to avoid the stench.
Wlako, together with his accomplice Emmanuel Boni, allegedly broke into the home of a married couple at Ho Area 51 and robbed them at gunpoint, according to the same report. The two suspects tied up the couple and burned their bodies with a hot-pressing iron while robbing them.
The accused persons were charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery, causing unlawful damage, unlawful entry, and causing harm, but they pleaded not guilty to all five counts.
According to Chief Inspector Agnes Ahiable, the police prosecutor for the case, the robbers stole several valuable items from the couple, including a laptop valued at GH¢8,000; an iPhone valued at GH ¢13,000; a Samsung tablet, valued at GH¢6,000; and a Techno phone valued at GH¢200. They also took jewelry worth GH¢10,000, a gold watch worth GH¢7,000, three other watches valued at GH¢1,800, a high-definition video camera valued at GH¢2,500, and cash of GH¢7,000.
The robbers were apprehended after one of them left his phone behind at the scene of the crime, which the couple handed over to the police when they reported the incident.
