Samartex FC have emerged winners of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
They clinched the title after their victory against Bibiani GoldStars on Sunday, June 2, at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex.
This achievement comes just one season after their promotion to Ghana’s top-tier league.
Under the leadership of Nurudeen Amadu, Samartex secured the league title with two games remaining, capitalizing on the weekend defeats of Aduana and Medeama SC.
Emmanuel Mamah’s pivotal goal just before the break was decisive, giving his team a lead that they maintained until the final whistle.
At the sound of the final whistle, the Nsenkyire Stadium was alight with celebration as fans revelled in the historic moment.
Samartex’s victory marks a significant moment in the Ghana Premier League, as they become the first team to win the title immediately following promotion.
Samartex now joins clubs like Sekondi Eleven Wise, Hasaacas, and last season’s champions, Medeama SC as Western Regional clubs that have won the league.
Over the course of 32 matches, Samartex’s campaign included 18 wins, four draws, and 10 losses, a record that propelled them to the pinnacle of Ghanaian football.
